Integrate an escrow service
I suggest that Sitepoint integrate an escrow service into the marketplace. Something like the way rentacoder has. For a Buyer, they would have to deposit funds before they could bid on any item. This requires alot of think, but it's just an idea that I think should be considered.

I disagree completely with this. As polite as I can, I wish I could shout this. I mean, an escrow service has its ups and downs. I don't like a client who simply says, "I'm not satisfied" and cheats paying me, even though I just spent 2 months working on his project without payment and he added tremendous feature creep.

This is good idea, it would be good when its like escrow "buyer pays, you verify and confirm to the seller to transfer the domain." But your feature, SP should have a namecheap, goddady etc account where the seller transfer the domain to you (after the payment) and you to the buyer, so that its 100 % secure and no one of the part can try to scamm "I transfered" , "I didn't get".

As long as there aren't too many ways to back out like there are on Escrow ... buyer not satisfied? They back out ... time wasted, auction relist forced. Pain.
