Restore listing view counters planned
Marketplace 1.0 had a view counter associated with every listing. Users have asked to have this feature restored to Marketplace 2.0.
Bringing back view counters will be a technical challenge, but it is a very high priority on our list. We currently hope to have this feature back within the next few months.

A simple image or script based counter would let you track views on cached pages as a separate request. You could display the view count on the cached page similarly, as a separate, simple, single-database-query request. Or you could just put the view count in "My Marketplace" since it matters most to the seller/lister.

Kevin, how would it break the caching, at the time someone views the listing, a code snippet does the job to modify the cached page itself incrementing the counter +1, am I missing something? :)

I don't mind not having listing view counters. If a user views a listing and doesn't do any action while viewing, wouldn't it be the same? It's just going to show listing popularity anyway.
